At Samvruddhi & Co., we believe that ancient traditions hold timeless wisdom. Our journey began with a simple intention – to bring the knowledge of traditional Indian wellness practices into modern homes through thoughtfully created herbal and wellness products.
Founded in 2014, Samvruddhi & Co. began as a joint venture with a vision to create products inspired by ancient traditions and suited to the needs of contemporary life. Our Divine Herbal Deepam Oils were the beginning of this journey.
The Sacred Tradition of Deepam
A Deepam - a lamp - holds a deeply revered place in Hindu tradition. Since ancient times, fire has been an integral part of Indian culture. During the Vedic period, fire was carefully preserved within households and communities, eventually becoming an essential part of daily rituals and sacred spaces through the lighting of oil lamps.
According to ancient Vedic traditions and texts such as the Agni Purana, the lamp represents the sacred element of fire and holds a significant place in spiritual practice.
captures the deeper symbolism of lighting a lamp - moving from ignorance towards knowledge, negativity towards positivity, and darkness towards a righteous and enlightened path.
Traditionally, the flame of the lamp is also associated with Goddess Lakshmi, symbolising prosperity, peace and happiness.
For us, the Deepam is therefore more than a source of light.
It represents faith, tradition, positivity and the continuity of
ancient wisdom in everyday life.
The People Behind Deepam
Dr. Nayanar belongs to a family of traditional Nadi readers, astrologers and Siddha medicine practitioners.
Alongside his traditional practice, he has pursued research-oriented approaches to astrology and holistic development. His work in psychological astrology led to the development of “Children Psychological Astrology,” a comprehensive system focused on the holistic development of children.
His research and his exploration of traditional scriptures became an important foundation for the development of Samvruddhi's Deepam Oils. His father, Sri Dharmalingam Nayanar, whose knowledge of Siddha medicine and astrology provided valuable guidance, was a strong influence throughout this journey.
Smt. Bhanurekha Sainath, a science graduate from Srirangam, was introduced to Dr. Nayanar through her father, Shri V. S. Ramabadran of Vaduvur.
She subsequently joined Dr. Nayanar's research and became actively involved in research relating to astrology and holistic practices. Her work eventually contributed to the creation of Samvruddhi & Co., with a vision to bring traditional knowledge and practices into a form that is relevant to modern households.
